Don't you love it when straight men play gay?

"As an actor I play roles based on reality. Sexual orientation is a natural and personal choice. I see no reason for it to affect my decision to accept a project," says Rang de Basanti actor Siddharth Suryanarayan in a Hindustan Times article.

Definitely another step in the right direction, but I'm going to need a little convincing that he would actually play gay when opportunity arises. Actions speak louder than words, and I want to see a whole lot of action from this cutie!

ok, im getting reaaal tired of all these actors who proclaim that they would never turn down a gay part. let's actually see an out, gay character in a mainstream south asian film!

Irfan Khan played gay in a Mira Nair short, Migration. You can check it out:

But again, this was a short independent film. Its time for these "open-minded" actors to literally act on their words.

well the movie industry needs to change too and offer more LGBT roles in mainstream movies (that don't ridicule/simplify/stereotype). omg we need an B-wood Brokeback Mountain. How about Homo Himalaya? too much? yeah too much...

I think this is formally called "Gay For Pay." A straight man playing a homosexual role is so much different than a homosexual man playing a homosexual role. Can the straight guy really relate to what he is playing or is he just faking it? The passion just may be lost in translation...
